Cut

Removes the selected text and puts it on the clipboard, ready to paste somewhere else. It's the keyboard way to move things.

WindowsCtrl+X
Mac⌘+X

How to use it

  1. Select the text you want to move.
  2. Press the shortcut. The text disappears.
  3. Click where it should go and paste.

Pro tip

On Windows, Ctrl + X also moves files in File Explorer. On a Mac, Finder doesn't cut files: copy with ⌘ + C, then press ⌥ + ⌘ + V to move instead of copy.
